New Player Guide

Welcome to Redemption

This guide is designed to walk a brand-new player from their first login into their first few days of real progression. Instead of explaining every system at once, it focuses on what to do next, why it matters, and when to start using each major feature.

TOC

What is a Custom RSPS?

Redemption is a custom RuneScape Private Server, often called an RSPS. This means it is based on RuneScape-style gameplay, but includes custom bosses, custom gear, faster progression, unique events, special progression systems, Slayer prestiges, custom pets, and server-specific rewards.

If you are new to private servers, the biggest difference is that progression moves much faster than the official game. Your goal is not simply to level skills — your goal is to unlock systems, upgrade gear, complete Slayer progression, and build toward stronger PvM content.

Why Voting Matters

Voting is one of the easiest habits to build early. It gives rewards, helps the server grow, and provides useful progression items over time.

As a new player, you should vote daily because it can provide:

  • Vote boxes
  • Vote tickets
  • Useful supplies
  • Progression items
  • Access to vote-related rewards and bosses

Daily Habit: Vote every day before starting Slayer or events. It takes very little time and adds up quickly.

Events to Watch For

Events are one of the easiest ways for new players to get involved with the server. Even if you are not strong yet, many events are worth attending because they provide rewards, community activity, or progression materials.

Regular Events

  • Fishing Contest
  • Fishing Event
  • Woodcutting Event
  • Thieving Event
  • Thieving Boss
  • Mining Event
  • Barrelchest Mass
  • Nightmare Mass
  • Lodsmok Mass
  • Toma
  • Golden Maw
  • Blightfiend

Weekend Events

  • Bounty Hunter
  • Bingo
  • Relics
  • Vaultbreaker
  • Slayer Showdown

New Player Rule: If an event starts and you are unsure whether you can help, ask in-game or in Discord. Many events are still worth attending even before you have strong gear.

Your First Five Days

This section is written like a guided playthrough. You do not have to finish each section in exactly one real-life day. Some players will move faster, and some will move slower. Use each day as a milestone.

Day 1 — Start Slayer and Learn the Core Loop

Goal for Day 1
Learn Slayer, begin prestiging, use the Player's Task Companion, and start building your first real progression path.

Step 1 — Open the Player’s Task Companion

The Player’s Task Companion gives early objectives and rewards. Do not treat every task as equally important forever, but do use it early to understand the server and pick up useful rewards.

Focus especially on tasks involving:

  • Completing Slayer tasks
  • Unlocking Hard Slayer tasks
  • Voting
  • World bosses
  • Early combat progression

Step 2 — Start Slayer

Open the Slayer interface with:

::slayer

or

CTRL + S

Start with basic Slayer tasks until you understand how the interface works.

Step 3 — Work Toward Slayer Prestige 1–5

Your first major goal is to progress through Slayer Prestiges 1–5. These early prestiges are done by leveling Slayer and prestiging.

Do not worry about every advanced Slayer system yet. Your goal today is simple:

  • Complete Slayer tasks
  • Earn Slayer experience
  • Earn Slayer points
  • Learn task streaks
  • Unlock Hard tasks when ready
  • Begin building toward Prestige 5

Step 4 — Unlock Hard Slayer Tasks

Once you have enough Slayer points, unlock Hard Slayer tasks.

Hard tasks are important because they become the main early progression loop. They help you earn better rewards and begin preparing for later Slayer prestige requirements.

Step 5 — Check Your Gear

Open the Gear Progression page and compare your equipment to the early Slayer gear tiers.

For Day 1, you are not expected to have perfect gear. Your goal is simply to understand what your next upgrades are.

Day 1 Checklist

Task Done?

Claimed wiki starter code

-

Learned basic commands

-

Opened Player’s Task Companion

-

Started Slayer

-

Completed first Slayer task

-

Began working toward Slayer Prestige 1–5

-

}

Day 2 — Slayer Momentum and Paragon Prep

Goal for Day 2
Continue Slayer, push toward Prestige 6–10, begin preparing for Slayer Paragon, and keep upgrading gear.

Step 1 — Continue Hard Slayer Tasks

At this stage, Hard Slayer tasks are your main loop.

The basic loop is:

Complete Hard Slayer Task
Earn Slayer Points and Keys
Open or save rewards
Upgrade gear
Repeat

Step 2 — Understand Prestige 6–10

After Prestige 5, Slayer progression changes. You no longer simply level Slayer repeatedly. Instead, higher prestiges require specific tasks, boss kills, sacrificed keys, Slayer completions, and other requirements.

Do not panic when you see the list. You are not meant to finish everything instantly.

Step 3 — Current Recommended Strategy

For Prestige 6–10, the current best approach is generally to continue doing Hard Slayer tasks and earn Slayer Prestige Task Skips instead of immediately grinding every prestige task manually.

Important: Do not rush into every Prestige task just because it appears in the interface. Continuing Hard tasks and earning skips is usually faster for early Prestige progression.

Step 4 — Unlock Slayer Paragon at Prestige 8

At Slayer Prestige 8, the Slayer Paragon system becomes available. This system lets you spend Slayer Points on account boosts.

Paragon boosts include:

  • Tribrid stats
  • Tribrid percent
  • Max hit
  • Drop rate
  • ELO
  • Double drop rate
  • XP bonus

This becomes a major long-term Slayer point sink, so start thinking carefully about where your Slayer Points go.

Step 5 — Keep Gear Moving

Your goal is not just to prestige. Your goal is to get stronger while prestiging.

Keep checking the Gear Progression page and aim to move through the early Slayer gear tiers.

Day 2 Checklist

Task Done?

Continued Hard Slayer tasks

-

Reached or pushed toward Prestige 6+

-

Learned how Prestige tasks work

-

Started saving or using Slayer Prestige Task Skips wisely

-

Unlocked or prepared for Slayer Paragon

-

Upgraded at least one gear slot

}

Day 3 — Prayer, Karma, Slayer 11+, and Daily Progression

Goal for Day 3
Begin working on support systems that make your account stronger outside of raw gear.

Step 1 — Keep Slayer as Your Main Path

By Day 3, Slayer should still be your main activity. Continue pushing Prestige progression and begin preparing for Prestige 11+.

Prestige 11 and beyond introduce more advanced requirements, so your account should be improving in multiple areas, not only Slayer level.

Step 2 — Start Prayer Progression

Prayer is an important long-term account system. Even if it is not your entire focus early, you should begin understanding how Prayer fits into your account progression.

Use this stage to learn:

  • How Prayer is trained
  • Which materials are needed
  • Which unlocks matter for your current stage

Step 3 — Start Karma

Karma is another custom progression system. Do not ignore it forever, but do not let it overwhelm you on Day 1 either.

By Day 3, you should at least understand:

  • Where Karma begins
  • What Karma food is used for
  • Why Karma matters later
  • How Karma connects to long-term progression

Step 4 — Daily Tasks and Paragon

Start building a daily routine.

Your daily routine should include:

  • Voting
  • Checking events
  • Completing useful daily tasks
  • Continuing Slayer
  • Spending Slayer Points carefully
  • Progressing Paragon if unlocked

Day 3 Checklist

Task Done?

Continued Slayer past early prestiges

-

Started learning Prestige 11+ requirements

-

Began Prayer progression

-

Began Karma progression

-

Checked Daily Tasks

-

Continued Paragon progression

-

Upgraded more gear slots

}

Day 4 — Item Grinder and Advanced Item Grinder

Goal for Day 4
Learn how unwanted items turn into long-term value through the Item Grinder systems.

Step 1 — Learn What the Item Grinder Does

The Item Grinder turns certain items into Grinder Points. These points are used in the Item Grinder Rewards Shop.

Before grinding anything valuable, check the wiki page for the item’s grinder value.

Warning: The Item Grinder can fail. Do not blindly grind items you may need later.

Step 2 — Clean Up Duplicate Items

By now, you may have extra items from Slayer, boxes, bosses, or events.

Before selling or grinding anything, ask yourself:

  • Is this used in an upgrade?
  • Is this part of my current gear path?
  • Is this useful for Karma, Salvage, or another system?
  • Is this safe to grind?

Step 3 — Learn the Advanced Item Grinder

Once you understand the basic Item Grinder, begin learning the Advanced Item Grinder.

This system is more relevant as your account starts collecting higher-value duplicate items and more advanced progression materials.

Step 4 — Keep Slayer Going

Day 4 is not a break from Slayer. It is about learning what to do with the items Slayer and events are giving you.

Your loop becomes:

Slayer
Events
Gear Upgrades
Item Cleanup
Grinder Progress
Repeat

Day 4 Checklist

Task Done?

Read the Item Grinder page

-

Checked grinder values before grinding items

-

Learned that grinding can fail

-

Cleaned up duplicate items carefully

-

Started learning Advanced Item Grinder

-

Continued Slayer and gear progression

}

Day 5 — Where You Should Be and What Comes Next

Goal for Day 5
Move from beginner progression into early midgame.

By Day 5, you should have a strong understanding of Redemption’s core loop.

You should be familiar with:

  • Slayer
  • Slayer Prestiges
  • Slayer Points
  • Slayer Skips
  • Slayer Paragon
  • Voting
  • Events
  • Daily Tasks
  • Gear Progression
  • Prayer
  • Karma
  • Item Grinder

Gear Goal

By this point, aim to be at least around Tier 5 Slayer Gear from the Gear Progression page.

Do not worry if you are not perfectly there yet. The important thing is that you understand what your next gear upgrades are and how to work toward them.

Your Main Goals After Day 5

After finishing this guide, continue with:

  • Slayer Prestige progression
  • Gear Progression
  • Bossing
  • Events
  • Prayer
  • Karma
  • Paragon
  • Item Grinder
  • Advanced PvM systems

Common Mistakes

Avoid these early mistakes:

  • Trying to learn every system on Day 1.
  • Ignoring Slayer.
  • Spending Slayer Points without understanding Paragon.
  • Doing outdated starter methods just because an old guide mentions them.
  • Grinding or selling items before checking whether they are needed.
  • Ignoring voting and events.
  • Switching away from Hard Slayer tasks too early.
